The Tastee Freez burnt last night. For our little town, this is a major thing. The Tastee Freez is our little local ice cream shop that is only open in the summer. When Tastee Freez opens you know it is summer time and when it closes, you know winter will soon arrive. The sad thing is that someone set the fire intentionally. It appears they put something in the trashcan and it quickly spread to the roof of the building. Thankfully, the building wasn't completely destroyed and the owners plan on remodeling it (which they just finished a major renovation this spring).
The Tastee Freez and I have a history too. I had a job there a couple of summers. I worked there the summer after my senior year of high school (I think--my memory seems to fail me today). Then the summer after my freshman year of college I worked there too. Those few months that I worked there I was in charge of opening the shop, I even had my own set of keys to the place! Karl and I were dating that summer. He would always stop by on his way to work and see me. I, of course, always fixed him up with a wonderful chili cheese foot long hot dog (free of charge, of course). I knew just how to fix it for him--the love that we have!
Faith loved to go get her vanilla ice cream cone there this summer and Bryce loved their chocolate ice cream. I personally prefered the chocolate/vanilla swirl cones. Karl's preference often varied between sundaes, cones, and banana splits. I guess all of our favorites will have to wait until next summer.
