Faith had been begging to go to the zoo for a while now. I told her we would go this week and so the time had come and I couldn't back out on my word, eventhough I knew that it was going to be miserably HOT!! My plan was to get there really early, but of course that didn't work (so we got there around 10:00). The kids didn't know we were going, so I told them right before we left the house and they were so excited!! So, we went and we saw ALL the animals. Sometimes we skip parts of it, but we hadn't been for so long that the kids wanted to check out everything. We were there for about 3 hours and we had a picnic before we left. It was hot and a couple of times I had to sit down and cool off, but it was a nice day and we had a lot of fun (the only thing missing was Daddy---we wished he didn't have to work and miss all these fun adventures, but we are so thankful that he does work for us).
Of course one of the highlights of the zoo for the kids has always been feeding the giraffes the crackers that you can buy at the zoo. Well, we bought our crackers. We feed some of them to the goats, but saved the rest for the giraffes. The only problem, when we got over by the giraffes there were signs everywhere saying DO NOT FEED THE GIRAFFES!! So, my daughter is practically crying, because she had waited so long for this. So, I decided what would it hurt and we fed them anyway. I told her that we weren't really supposed to do this, but we were going to this time, but from now on we will have to follow the rules. At least I can prepare her beforehand next time.
