Earring story: Last night she told us that her left ear was hurting. So...I looked at her ear and it looked nasty. Apparently she had hit it sometime during the day (maybe at recess or gym at school---don't really know). So, Karl and I had no choice but to make her take her earring out. It probably took us a half and hour to get the earring out of her ear from all her crying and jerking and the like. Finally, I got the earring out. There was a ton of blood that came out with the earring, but her ear looked more cut then it did infected (I was afraid it had gotten infected and we were going to have to keep the earring out). So, we cleaned it off good with the ear cleaner stuff we had from when we first got her ears pierced. Then Karl wanted to use some peroxide (there was no bubbling of the peroxide at all, so we are guessing there is no infection). We got it all cleaned and then came the challenge of having to get the earrings back into her ears. After about an hour of this total ordeal, the earrings were back in her ears and all was well.
Then return to today: we were hoping the earrings would go unnoticed at the game, but the official actually checked very well. So, she had to take the earrings out or not play. She chose to just not play, but that wasn't what Mom and Dad chose. So, it took just a couple of seconds and we actually had both earrings out and she was back on the field. She even got to play her favorite postion first, which is goalie!!
She did good at goalie and didn't let any balls into the goal. However, her team did lose the game 3-2. All the kids had fun though, so that is what matters.
After the game we had to get the earrings back into Faith's ears though. We dreaded this task as much as taking them out. Karl then decided to bribe Faith with a milkshake. We told her that if she put her earrings back in then we would go get a milkshake. We had a small meltdown about putting them in, but it didn't take too long and they were back in. We will see how neck Saturday goes. Hopefully she will get more used to taking them in and out and it won't be a big deal for long, but time will only tell.
